Not sure on the BTUs but, after talking to Jim Lucero and Ken Muskatel last weekend at the HARM, I learned that when the Madison team was running the former Pay' N Pak hull, they were carrying a total of 150 gallons of methanol when the boat left the trailer. When the boat was running the Merlin as the Pak and Atlas, it left the dock with around 60 gallons of avgas. What was also different is, while they carried a lot more weight in fuel, the methanol generated more power than the avgas so the boat was actually a bit faster in the later stages of the race than when running avgas
