My first build, thought I would share. I have a lot to learn.

Very well could be, Rick. The only catch is Larry doesn't do the intakes system for the turbo Allison, that has to be fabricated by the builder since there are so many variations

I don't know what you are talking about Pat, i don't see it, lol

I have peeked a couple times. The last John Logan boat that I used to own until a couple months ago had a very similar sponson that was actually my reference. But yes Kirk is in there as well. Thank you Kirk and John. I watch and listen just try not to let them know that. haha

Joey, if you're not snooping, you're not learning. I've been doing that for years and it's amazing how much you can learn just in an innocent conversation

im interested in how different this boat is from boats i have worked on

picklefork depth is shallow creating more airtrap btwn the sponsons....fuel tank/tanks are adjacent to the motor, which is not an option for boats with bow blocks that end right there...neat

I have no clue who built the dummy. It came on a boat that I bought a few years back.
Thanks. [Yep, I was asking about the dummy engine.]

I've read that in the full size boat, the Allison ran on 100% methanol. You can see the much larger fuel tank, situated between the engine and the driver. [Methanol has less Btu / gallon, so they needed a much larger fuel tank to finish a heat race.]

Not sure on the BTUs but, after talking to Jim Lucero and Ken Muskatel last weekend at the HARM, I learned that when the Madison team was running the former Pay' N Pak hull, they were carrying a total of 150 gallons of methanol when the boat left the trailer. When the boat was running the Merlin as the Pak and Atlas, it left the dock with around 60 gallons of avgas. What was also different is, while they carried a lot more weight in fuel, the methanol generated more power than the avgas so the boat was actually a bit faster in the later stages of the race than when running avgas

Yes I did Pat, I moved the break back to #5 even with the end of the sponsons. In changing the break, I also changed the deck angle a lil bit. Motor will mount right in front of the break. As far as the wight Mike, I have no clue. I don't own a scale at all. My guess when it's all done and ready for the water I think it will be around 15 to 16lbs a wee bit on the heavy side. I was pretty generous with the west systems. What does sparingly mean? lol

Progress, The cowl should be here in the next couple of weeks or so.
