I received my 91/101 Truex Short kit from Joe but havent yet ordered the boom tubes.

I measure the holes in the tub and sponson frames are around 10.5mm? What size booms are you guys using?

Was thinking I should just open the holes and use the 1/2" solid booms? or would 3/8" be sufficient?

Also, where do I get a cowl for this kit?

Thanks in advance.

The boom tubes are 3/8" solid carbon fiber rod. You can try thick wall tubing but you may want to step up to 1/2" od.

Depends on power?? I built one for an OPS 90 and used the 5/8" aluminum booms and for a 67 90 I run 1/2" aluminum booms. I made the cowls for these boats e-glass or carbon. The OPS 90 boat had a 5" tub so air ducts were added along the cowl for air.

Neil

I am using 3/8 solid carbon rods for mine. Doc Turner has a nice cowling on his 90 JAE. Mark Bullard made the cowling for him. I believe Mark has a vacuum setup for making the cowling, his number is 256-303-6423.
