Last time I tried this was with a 100 watt American Beauty soldering iron and a metal vise. Stay Bright solder. I'm thinking some kind of torch and a better way to hold the cable. I can't quite afford the Jim Alan solution. No offense intended. Jim is THE master. I have never researched torches and don't even know how they're rated.

Thanks,

Grayson

Butane micro torch is less than $20. 120 Watt soldering gun works. Keep it a distance from the vise as you suck the heat away from the cable. Tin the cable and ferrel first then reheat the ferrel and slide it on.

I think I even have a micro butane that I tried on Deans connector. It's pretty micro. I went back to the iron for 5mm electrical on a car.

What kind of torch are you using?

I use a propane torch head attached to a 20LB. tank.. Silver soldered things for dang near ten years and still have a heavy tank??

Later!!
