Perfect diameter Mark. 55mm is where most of us have found as the sweet spot without losing shafts. You can also play around with vcuts and more pitch to achieve higher speeds without overloading the shaft. Many are putting their heads together to figure out ways to utilize more shaft diameter, and less load on the curve in the lower unit. You will start to see posts about what others are doing soon. Stay tuned........I purchased two props from Elias V. They are both in the 55mm range.. Went out last Saturday / Sunday to continue to break in the Nova motor. All I can say is WOW....
So far I have used a 2319-18-38 on my modified 67 outboard and have not broken a shaft yet.Guys, its not about the size of the prop but the balance. These outboards run a 3/16th cable so the balance of turning as much prop and getting as much speed as you can without breaking cables is the goal.
