What length are you guys running the CMB Pipe on a VAC 45 in your Sport 40s. I'm pulling a 1455/3 at 9.5 from center of glow plug to weld. That's shorter that I've run any other combo and it still jumps right on the pipe. Can't go shorter till I build a new header. What's everyone else running?

On my VAC with CMB pipe I was at 10 3/4". I shortened it to 10 1/2" didn't see anything different. I'm running a 452/2 blade with some mods.

Mark Anderson designed my boat around that prop . So I have to stay with motors down around 182 deg exhaust timing so I don't cut my Sport Hydro motors. FWIW I do run at sea level .

I ran a 450/2 then I stepped up to 452/2.

Raced against a boat with a the same setup but with a 450/2 prop and a AB Parabolic pipe. I was maybe 1 or 2 mph faster. I'll try shorting in a 1/4" at a time. I haven't had my crank balanced yet and its bone stock.

But I need a non lifting prop.

Are you talking CMB 45 black muffled pipe or CMB 45 nitro pipe with stinger muff ?????

Ray , My boat is old school. It traps air . The reasoning is that on the course it runs very light as long as I keep the exhaust timing around 182 so I can get it onto the course.

Guys,

Just a quick note to let everyone know Scott is in recovery mode from knee replacement surgery. He is healing nicely, but probably won't be doing anything in the shop

for the next couple of months. I know he would be thrilled to BS model boats with all of you that know him!

Tim, you are right all of Scott's pistons, pipes, cranks, ect. make great HP. First class stuff!!!

Hmm, I think good therapy would be for Scott to balance some cranks. Do you have Scott's doctors or Physical therapist phone number Don? I know my Mom had knee replacement they wanted her up and around. We all need to do our part to help Scott heal. He has done such a service to us VAC owners we owe him that . ;-) He does a great job at a very reasonable price.
