I didn't know they made them that small. Learned something new. Strong as steel stick is the name of the product I was thinking of, available through industrial supply houses.

Have to admit I didn't think you could get helicoil that small (2.5mm). I had heard of people retapping the hole without redrilling with the next imperial size bolt.

I bought a used OS years ago with stripped holes. I repaired it with 2.5mm Helicoil.

I am not a machinist but if I were to retap the thread, I would go imperial size instead of metric. My thinking is that 4-40 or 6-32 have more coarse thread than the metric equivalent and therefore less likely to strip

Head bolt in MAC 45 is M3.(3mm)

When will you learn metric??
