Yeah thats right I use the pick to get the ring out of the grove then grab it with the hemostats then slowly roll it out of the Grove make sure to use the locking kind that way the ring want go shooting out into space

Good question I've wanted to know, glad you posted this. I've been racking my brain removing retainer-clips on older (brand-new) engines lately to get at the rod. I've had to carefully dremel a notch on the perimeter to more easily grab with tweezers.

If your pick is Sharpe to the point like a needle you can pick it right

Out no problem I have been taking c clips out that way for 25 years never had one I could not get out just take your time make sure that

The pick has a very very Sharpe point that is the trick on getting it out when you go to pick it out of the Grove find the gap in the ring comeback from the gap a couple of thousands and push the pick behind the ring the ring will pop out of the Grove enough to grab it with the hemostats and then roll it out of the Grove and you put it back the same way just roll it back in you done PEACE OUT
