Hey everyone. I have talked about this for a few years now, but I finally am hustling to get this design finished, and built in the very near future. This is my first rigger design so its all new to me, however, I have put in the logic I have learned, along with some other guys that actually know Rigger design, and this is where I am at! As you can see, it has some things you have never seen in a rigger to help the build be easy as possible. the rear bottom plate is also the framework for the rear shoes, all in one piece. This will be light weight, and very strong. As you can see, the center section design is pretty much done, and I am working on the sponsons now. Yes, the top has a lot of curvature, I wanted this for looks...To combat that, the bottom has the quarter round included, just like my sport hydros...which has been extremely effective in controlling the hulls downforce. Right now, this will be a 31" design, but if it works like I hope, a 38" and probably 44" will follow...we just need to see how this goes! Give me your feedback on the look of the design, and the cowling! Thanks, Mike Luszcz, ML Boatworks

Very interesting!! The quarter round on the bottom is deffinately a different idea, be interesting to see it done without and see the performance difference. The built-up rear shoes is also a step away from the foam core also. Looking forward to see ir tested.

Brad

Nice Mike!! Very interested!!! I knew it wouldn't be long before you dove into riggers! (Gas -YES!!!!)

Design - Yes

Sponsons -Yes (getting tired of seeing the same JAE style sponsons on alot of "new" non JAE designed riggers)

Cowling - Yes ...nice look!!

Sorry but it is about time I been waiting for 3 plus years for this Yeah Boy I am ready. Mike I can't say enough how great your designs are all of my ML kits run great and build even better. Talk to you soon Jerry

Looks good, assuming a 31" would take a 21 nitro engine. Is it strictly designed for electric? PS anything on that SP 40 cowl?

Ray, once I feel good about the FE setup, I will look into a nitro version. I think one of the tub frames will need to move, kind of like I did on the GSX380/310 sport hydro center sections...a dedicated Nitro and FE tub. I definitely want the nitro guys to be able to use this as well!

Tub inside width? Metal or Solid CF boom tubes? Lipo dimentions?
The tub outside is 3 1/2", so the inside is 3 1/4". The lipo shaddowed in is a Giant Power 4s 65c 5000mah pack, so as you can see, plenty of room for more mah, aka, a full P setup! The boom tubes will be the same 5/16" carbon rods used in the zipkits jae 21. I want it where parts can easily be had

Oh, and I hope to lay one up this weekend! Weather is finally getting nice again. Been off and on rain all week, gets frustrating!

Finished the Sponson design. Still have to add slots for some basswood sticks, but the frames themselves are done! Pretty pleased with the results. Mike

Nice! Sooo...just looking at the sponsons...are you thinking that a sport 20 fin and bracket would/ could be mounted just like the sport 20??

Mike,

The bump in the front is not needed. Really. It is a rigger. Set the transom a tad higher than the sponson depth and away you go. A more sweeping bow on the bottom side would be the ticket. You asked so....Just my opinion.

Question for ya John, do you think the bump will hurt will hurt anything? If so, why? Just trying to learn more from you (-;

John, you are probably right. I will try it with the quarter round to start, and maybe try it without if I don't like how it performs. I already have a kit ordered and it is on the way now, so it was a done deal, lol. More soon. I have ordered all my running gear as well!
