What chance do I have with a 40 year old boat?

Hey Ya'll,

We run the Outboard Tunnels in D-13 Grand Prix, I have a wild hair to wipe the dust off my very first boat with a twenty K&B with my Dad's Lower unit for those that remember it and an John Oian pipe.. Probably would have to run B Mod Tunnel?? Would it be worth the effort to get it running or just a pipe dream to be compitetive??

Later!!

Its more about actually participating than winning to start with.

Not always the fastest boat that wins.

Yes I get That Jerry,

Actually you have layed eyes on this Dumas HotShot that I pickle forked and brought to a Tacoma fun run back in 1980. After this weekend I don't think the 20 Tunnels are running that much faster than we were back then?? Just need some fuel from John Otto and clean the boat up and get to the pond for next year not going to start now want to do a full season!!

Later!!

Patrick,

The 20!tunnel speeds are waaaay up from speeds in the 80's and 90's, but as Jerry pointed out, fast doesnt always mean win. Break it out and have some fun with it at the pond....

Some will say that if you are not running the latest in evolutionary design then you can't win. Bull. The Lee Craft 460 still wins races. And did you notice the style of boat that recently set the B Sport record? It was not even a pickle fork. Who would have thought?

John Olan made a real cool looking outboard hydro many years back. That pipe could be a rare piece.

My wife told me when she started racing i am not going fast like you guys i am going to finish every heat which she did and trophyed every race, just keep it out there have fun and finish

The last race I ran, last year I'm afraid, I finished 2nd in D tunnel just because I finished. I ran an old HotShot .45 sprint with a K&B on it. I did well even though I was easily the slowest boat in the race but was able to finish every race while 3 of the other 4 crashed. So yeah, break it out and run. I hope to race the same boat at least once this year.
