[email protected] does the one for the gas boats. It's a .125 wire with a .250 propshaft. Probably would suit big nitro too. He sells a kit with the tube and misc. parts to install it. Also has ball bearing struts available.

He's in Texas, 972-679-9980. Looks like he does nice work, I have 1 going into a gas rigger.

Mike what Collett will you use for the .125" wire? Would you need a rigid engine mount to prevent to much movement to the wire drive.?

He provides an adapter for the 1/4" collet, the normal rubber mounts don't allow much motion and seem to work well.

I saw one run this weekend in Bob Austin's Thriftway thunderboat and it was by far the fastest THunder boat I have ever seen. No cable wind up or loss of rpm due to stuffing tube . I can see this being the norm setup in a year or two.

I just had a look on Jim's dock and theboaters claim upto extra 600rpm and 3-4 Mph over conventional flex. Only fits zippkit collet. Wonder if insert will fit areomarine nitro Collet.

Hey guys,

I don't know why nobody has mentioned Mike Wohlt and his wire drives. He has been making them for a long time now. Almost any size you could think of. I think you can find him at Wohlt's RC. Take a look, you'll probably like what you see.

Regards,

Bob

Bob, and Others,

Jeff is the best wire drive guy in the country for sure.

Only ones to run in my opinion. No failures yet. Two

years so far.

Thanks For Reading,

Mark Sholund

Jeff has/makes collets for both nitro and FE...I'm sure he does gas stuff...he can do custom stuff...best Wire drive guy I know of...

Interesting for sure, geez guys I'm just learning about flex drives and you're off on a wire!!!!! My first with wire drives was in the late 90's and with a tail rotor drive on a model heli. It worked really well, we used a graphite spray lube in those days to lube the housing but I can't remember the oversize of the housing to the wire.

Thanks, John
