From the pics it looks like the 91 have the same crankcase? Could we expect a 91 OB as well?

Joern,

Welcome to the first group to have this latest Novarossi powerplant in their arsenal. The 91 case is different on the inside as it has more crankcase volume and larger bore for the larger diameter P/S. That tells me adding the PTO assy and outboard flywheel to the 91 may be a very simple task!!!...

Once these initial engines are in the hands of experienced boaters, we will all start to learn the additional advantages together. Stay tuned!!!...

Great to see big block outboards being produced again!

How did the performance compare in testing between the 67OB and 46OB?

Looking forward to it!!! However I`m pretty sure there will be a big difference in how to set up the engine since we have the 25% nitro limit. Anyway it is easier to get low rpm power on low nitro the bigger engine you have

Brad,

Yes, its great to see the full outboard product line being produced again. The performance will be substantial when installed on a tunnel designed for this class. The big point, how is this going to compare with the current choices when running the 60 tunnel class. To that point, the feedback will be coming soon as we have a substantial number of these wngines being delivered over the next couple of weeks. Early indications in reference to those boaters like Shane Adderly, that had already adapted the 67 DD version for outboard use, produced the fastest 67 heat racing tunnel I have ever witnessed. Many others at the SOWEGA tunnel race this year witnessed the same. Stay tuned......

Speed will not be a problem , we didn't even go with the biggest prop we could run and they were crazy fast, the problem going to be people's driving they are a lot faster then the regular 67 .

Wondering if there is crankshafts available to let me run either the 46 or 67 ob`s in the "opposite" direction?

(It`s for a twin cat with counter rotation)
Joern,

I think Lawless has the reverse wound cables. How are you going to achieve reverse rotation?

I allready have a huge amount of reverse cables. Was wondering if there is crankshafts that have intake timing the other way around, but as far as I know now there is not

Joern,

I see. Unfortunately I don't know of any outboard manufacturers (including Novarossi), that would take on the expense of designing and producing a second outboard crank just to enable reverse rotation, as the volume would be very limited. This will probably be a third party request if you can find someone with the knowledge and time to produce one for you.

Joern,One of my customers, Greg Robertson, just sent me a message on Facebook and said if you want to create a reverse running outboard engine, all you have to do is replace the outboard crank with the original wrap around 46 M version crank and it will give you what you need. I have them in stock. Send me an email to my email address in my signature below and I will get you the ordering info you will need. You will have to get someone to make you flywheel and you will be all set. Had no idea this would accomplish what you need. Thanks to Greg and the internet!!!...

Ron,

Unfortunately this will not work. Although the crank timing will be correct, these cranks do not have a PTO drive pin.

If you compare the two cranks side by side you will see.

.
Dang. I was hoping we were on to something. Thank you so much for the feedback Brad. I will check this out.

You can do it with wraparound header engines. Just use the dd crank in the one you want to reverse and cut off the pto pin :)

Oops I see you want to run on OB lowers. Sorry thought I seen it was going in a cat.

Ron, I knew about this, it is the same story with several engines, missing the PTO drive pin... But thanks for checking, I really appreciate it
I know a few guys that could make me a crankshaft, but it would be very expensive so I`m not sure if it is worth it. And as you pointed out there will most likely be an extremely limited demand for these cranks, so one crank (the one that would make me happy) have to carry all expenses.

Thanks for the input Martin.
