I'm kind of excited in the direction this is going this far out.

Mark Sholund really opened my eyes to the potential and since the end of last years race- I have been hell bent on trying to run with through the door he opened my eyes too. If you dont know, Mark was kind enough to step up to the plate the day before our race and offer a race prepped prop of choice to the winner of 20 Mod and 20 Stock Tunnel for the 2013 Herb Stewart Challenge Round II.

VERY stand up IMHO and THANK YOU a thousand times over Mark B)

Since then , In preparation for 2014's race, I have contacted and been contacted by several vendors expressing their interest in sponsoring classes for the 2014 event.

So far, I'm pleased to announce that the following vendors have stepped on board to provide the best in the land a little extra bling to go along with the individual class awards already offered-Not to mention the sweet traveling trophy B)

Mark Sholund- Props4U - 2 Class Sponsor

John Otto- Technology Fuels - 2 Class Sponsor

Glenn Quarles -Top Engines - Awards and Class sponsor

Vision Craft Boats - (your gonna have to wait -but its good ;) )

Grim Racer - ( same deal as above )

Carl Van Houten -VansRacing (same deal as above)

Kris Flynn - KND Valkyrie Boats Coming Soon... and of course- Flex Shafts (class sponsor/raffle)

Steven Vaccaro- Offshore Electrics F/E Class Sponsor

Mark Poole - OMC Boats (Class Sponsor )

There are more discussions in the works and I'm hopeful we can get a dedicated Gas and to try and make the awards class specific.

I guess my point is- the last weekend in Oct of 2014 should be on your radar IF you think you worthy of bringing your SOME to the Best Coast of Central Fl at one of the Premier Tunnel Ponds in the land and getting it done..........

This one is only gonna get better guys and gals- Stay tuned ;)

BTW- I will say this in advance,

The format and race are set in stone - It will remain the same yearly without fail.

Tri-Oval Course

LeMans starts in ModVp and F/E - (other classes at driver vote during Sat driver meeting)

2 classes chosen at drivers meeting for a shot at the Overall-

5 rounds with 1 dump round

Open water Friday - approx 12 pm till 6pm
Sat - Open Water and 1 Round of Heat racing.

Sunday- Short Open water-4 rounds of heat racing /awards

The Tri-Oval is AWESOME if you have yet to see or hear about it , and LeMans starts in classes offered are something to watch.

Scary part is the prizes are better than at the WTC. would have to get my boats there that's the only problem or build some new ones for the race.

Lol you can afford to build new ones Shane...Vision hulls are easy to get and priced well LOL (if you know the right people ;) )

Need some input-

Really kicking around the idea of adding at least one - one day race somewhere in N Fla or Ga pending the interest with some help from our friends??

4 rounds all tunnel 1 day

Lets hear it .

Shane - if it keeps up this way , its gonna be worth entering- its early and hopefully it all plays out- but yeah ;)

Mitch,

The lake in J'ville where you tested the .21 last year, is that lake available for a race....

Seems that there may possibly maybe could be a new sight in the works for a 2nd race in the Ga area-

Stay tuned B)

Okay a little firmed up leak - REAL early like...............

Who wants a brand new 20 Vision    ???

Yep - AND- there are at least 2 more hulls up for grabs, and they all aint Visions ;)

Clear your calender for the last weekend of Oct 2014 is all I will say for now B)

The Traveling Trophy will be earned in Fl only Ron, so if you want the Big Daddy Bling , your gonna have to keep driving past Ga

That said , without saying more - there will be a second race in the GA area in 2014 , once the crew gets all the details ironed out we will make an announcement with plenty of time to sign up. It just keeps getting better B) B) B)

Stay tuned.......

Mic , call me.

Dang. Big trophy is only for one of the Herb races but not both? Oh well.... :(

"Vansracing is entering the ModVP class big time"

This class has stumped more than one boat builder. Careful what you get into Grasshoppa!! ;)

Mark,

I have reviewed what I was sent as a guide to the Mod-VP class. These were hand made "pencil sketches" of the rules for the Mod VP class. I questioned them and was told that they were the ones you guys were actually using to gauge the pod designs by. I have already designed my pod according to the specs given. I couldn't help but wonder if these were still valid rules. Are you still using these same hand sketches or do I need an updated version? I just want to be sure I am legal when it comes to race day.

Carl, the hand sketches were examples of how a boat could be configured, be it picklefork or mono bow. But if you read the text of those rules it is quite simple. Pod has to be a minimum of 1 inch wide, must be at least as deep as the outer sponsons and must remain at that minimum for at least 40% the length of the hull measured from the rear. Of course the pod can be wider than that, deeper than that and can go more than 40%. Those are the minimum specs for one to be legal. The pod can be of any design shape as long as it meets those minimums. If you look at the center of my boat it is a totally different design and size than what the Junkers did. Don't forget that a Vee or Modified Vee is ok too which is what Mic was racing.

So these are the right rules...okay. I just couldn't believe that after running the class for all these years, you guys are still going by such a crude sketch. I thought surly I don't have the right rules. As long as I have the current revision I am happy.

I have read them and understand them perfectly. I see where there is a lot of room left on the table for pod design. I have four pod designs right now but I will narrow it down to one soon.

Thanks!

-Carl
