Im pretty sure this is a lap cat 2, it was my dads back in the late 80s or early 90s. He talks about wanting to have another like it but I think a LC 3 would better suit the 11cc. He said it was wild & fun.

Im having a hard time spending $230 plus shipping for a new hull when its not a good comp hull by todays standards, Ive got a LF thread in the sale section if anyone has a good one on the shelf.

Disregard, I zoomed in on the pic and saw a lap cat II sticker. Id still like to hear if anyone has a nice 2 or 3 available.

That's a very old hull. Might be hard to find

I had one back in the day, anything more than a stock 7.5 and it was upside down more than it should be. stock 7.5 , 35-40 mph boat. if your looking to go faster than that get a different hull

With all do respect, maybe you didn’t spend time working the hull to make it better. My pops worked his, he’ll also be the first to admit that it wasn’t a good comp boat in race water, but it was one hell of a fun sport boat. Hey, he’s my dad, if he wants an 11cc on a shoebox... Guess what I’m going to hook up for him... He knows exactly what to expect and how to work it, that’s his old boat in the pic, in good water it would scream and ride the prop.

I have a lapcat2 that I bought from someone that never finished it. Needs stripped and refinished. Hull, cowl and radio box. I will take pictures of it if you are interested. Boat was never in the water.

I will agree with that, not a comp boat but a good sport boat. I spent a lot of time on that lap cat 2 in race conditions, took the motor off and bought a b/m leecraft 460 and the best move I ever did, with all do respect.

It's my understanding that the Leecraft is a great boat, do they look better in person? I think the flat top is what throws it off for me, I’m assuming it has benefits for handling aero since it’s not the normal type cowl.

Leecraft is a race boat, bottom line. Function over form. The Lapcat is more scale appearing for sport boating, and has some serious handling issues at current race speeds.

Just depends on what you want really. If you aren’t going to race, then run what ever looks good to you.

I absolutely agree, function over form. In this case, I’m just recreating a boat for my dad.

With this flat top.. and the design of it when tommy did it.. was you could cut out the area for an open cockpit. the fact that it makes a closed cowl is more of an after thought.

Hey, that makes pretty good sense!

Anyone have a pic of it modified as the original intent?
