Hi. Just after some photos if possible of twin outboard setups. In particular how items are setup under the cowl like tanks, throttle, third channel etc.

We used to run the twin O/S 21 Outboards on a Shaman years ago. I should have some pictures of it somewhere. Actually we got ethat boat out a couple of weeks ago and was talking about setting it back up. I think Jerry Dunlap has some pictures of it too.

This past spring we pulled the twin O/S outboards off of it and bolted a NR 46 on it so it's rolling now for sure but the twins were really fast once we got two matched 1440's on it. Mike always wanted to creep up in lane one on the start but with the twins you had to keep the heat up in mill time and cross the line wide open for the start to keep the modified 40's from getting a lead on you. After you rounded turn one and got on the back straight away the 40's didn't have enough speed to pass it and just had to fall in line. Mike could drive a good line and he won a lot of races with that boat.

that boat was the only really successful twin Os id ever seen... it rocked...Id thoughts on building a twin boat too... then... the engineering thoughts got in the way... itll take time, thought, money and work... lol... think Premo had one too?.. there are pics around....

It was lot of fun and it wasn't to bad to get the needles set but as twins are known for, that inside engine is the one that wants to go lean in the turns so you had to run it about two clicks richer than the outside engine. The Shaman is not real wet in the turns and that helped a lot with the twin setup too. We actually made some modifications to help the boat bite in the turns. Despite what you would think when adding the weight of an extra engine to the transom one would think that you you need a brick in the nose to keep it on the water but in fact that boat had no weight in the nose. The extra tail lift took care of the need for nose weight and actually the Shaman is designed to carry some weight so it would slip lanes in the turns. Thats why we modified the boat to help it turn. It didn't need much to get it right. We actually ran twin skegs and maybe we will remove the inside skeg this time to see if it helps the boat set for the turns. We started out with one primary tank and two hoppers but never could get the needles right with the single primary tank. We changed that out and went to two 4ounce primary tanks and two Irwin hopper tanks (about 3/4 oz each) glued bottom to bottom and mounted high up inside the cowling. Then the engines needled just fine. Start with a pair of 442's with the OD reduced and back cut just a little and work from there. A pair of 4053's would probably work well as a starter setup too.
I'll look to see if I have any pictures of that boat. It sounded so cool too...
I had a pair of K&B 7.5's on a Hornet once that ran really well too. Actually my twin 7.5 tunnel was the first one we set up.

Get in touch with Gene Mongar!! A while back he was running a Cat in Offshore with 4 .21's on the back.. When he had her running it was smokin' and sounded so Kool!!

4? WOW. Well that would be a sound of its own there for sure. Gene does very good engine work too. I am sure he had it singing.

Don't know if it was Gene, I saw one at the 95 Winternats when I was there. The linkage alone was something to see, was way cool.

When dialed in, I have seen twin OS keep up with any 7.5 mod tunnel.
